Show Time!

            Had a chance to take in the MacDill Airfest at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa this past weekend along with Jeff Krause. Air shows have become one of my favorite non-Disney things to shoot during the year and this one did not disappoint.

The location we selected to camp for the day had the US Air Force Thunderbirds staged just to our right. The 6 aircraft were parked in a line throughout the day as they awaiting their closing slot to wrap up the show. This location offered us the opportunity to see the entire boarding, prep and departure ritual they go through before heading out to the runway to begin the performance. I'd seen bits and pieces of this totally choreographed sequence before but this was the first time I'd actually been able to see all of it. 

Here we can see 5 of the 6 aircraft that make up the team heading out the runway to begin their demonstration. Not the most artistic shot in the world, but I really liked all the distortion from the engines as they taxied out to the runway
