"What the hell happened here?!" - a photo on Flickriver

            Looks like the aftermath of a battle of the gods!  I was really baffled by Bald Mountain and then on the descent it struck me that the surface of tumbled fragments was just litter, and the structure underneath was the expected layers of sandstone.  I've not seen such a landscape before anywhere. 

That's Christa Lamb, Flickr name "That Camel Woman," balancing before ascending the staircase which crosses a 20 foot wide path, with nearly sheer drops, to the peak, where there is quite a bit more level surface area to protect one from stumbling off to your doom. : )   I stayed behind: I have a "flying squirrel" physiological or psychological issue that makes me want to just leap off of high precipitous exposed rocky places. And the keys to the Jeep were in my pocket, so it would be a long walk back for her!

The Corel tweaks (fill light/clarity, local tone mapping, high pass sharpening) really brought out details in the sky and rocks that are missing in the "real" image.  If you don't use post-processing, I totally understand why you wouldn't, but from a "scientific" perspective, those tools let you see with super-human vision, and you may want to consider using them.  Using this image as an example, the sky and distant mountains would have been a boring undifferentiated blur, and the rocks an irritating same-ish flat plane of busy details,  if I hadn't processed.
