Vickers 152mm Coastal Gun - a photo on Flickriver

When the Spanish Civil War started, Spain had a very comprehensive Coastal Gun Batteries system protecting most of their main harbors, raging from 152mm guns to 305mm and even Vickers 381mm guns.

One of these weapons was the Vickers 15/24 of 152mm which was used to protect the harbors of Barcelona and Cartagena. A British design supplied before the start of the war, it had a range of 21 600meters and fired a 50kg projectile.
One of this guns, currently preserved at the Cartagena Artillery Museum became infamous for sinking the Cargo Ship “Castillo de Olite”, which was carrying a large group of troops for the invasion of Cartagena in 1939, just a few days before the end of the war.

A similar design was also used to arm some Cruisers of the Spanish Navy.
