Black-crowned Night Heron 3041 - a photo on Flickriver

            There was a time when Black-crowned Night Herons could be found at Heather Farm Reserve daily and for years. They were residents. In fact, there were so numerous that I got tired of photographing them, and would head to the hills for something more exciting. I miss those days. I've seen one in three years!

It was the first heron I saw that was actually luring fish by pushing a leaf or a twig out from the shore. Of course, true to its name, they slepts like cats in the daytime. But they were here as were Double-crested cormorants and "my" Tropical Kingbird. Well, nothing is forever including my archives, but there are memories. I found this in my decade-old archive.
