The "Painted Lady", Echeveria 0282 - a photo on Flickriver

             Echeveria (derenbergii), the painted-lady, is a species of flowering plant in the family Crassulaceae, endemic to Mexico. Lives in the southwest, the Mojave, and much of California.

It's a succulent and, depending upon which Echeveria you're looking at can have 1/2 inch flowers on a 18 inch stalk. I'd tell you more but Flickr froze half-way through the upload. One day, I will learn to cut what I've written so that I can paste it when the upload acts up.

There is also a "Painted Lady" butterfly, one of the most numerous in the world, and one which I got yesterday for extra credit. If you don't know the difference between a flower and a butterfly, I hold remedial classed the third Thursday of every month beginning with "A" but in leap years only and only when the temperature is under 70 locally.
