P52-2015-01 Open

            I hope this is acceptable for the new group. I took this photo in the intermediate unassigned week. At any rate it has a pretty good story.

Back in October I saw a Pentax ME camera selling for $20 at the Salvation Army. It seemed to work, so I bought it as a backup for my other Pentax cameras. Luckily the camera had a skylight filter on the lens, because it had been sitting out for who knows how long and the filter was filthy. I put on a new one, and fortunately the lens underneath was clean. It is a Pentax 50mm 1.7 lens, considered quite a classic these days.

However I noticed the camera had film in it. The ASA was set to 64, so I was afraid it was Kodachrome and it would cost a fortune to get developed. Who knew how old the film was? (There are only 2 places that still do Kodachrome, and only in B&W. Not cheap.)

I slowly shot through the remaining film, not knowing whether the camera was working or not. At any rate it seemed to make the right sort of noises.

I ended up shooting trains to finish the roll, which I'm sure people would be bored with. So this is a little way back. It turned out the film was Ilford B&W which is not hard to get developed.

It appears the camera is working pretty well, even with way old film. This is a place in Tacoma where we like to have lunch. It hasn't really changed much since about the 1940s, except that now there are plenty of craft brews on tap. Good bar food and loads of atmosphere. This place is OPEN most of the day, so if you are in the vicinity you can easily stop in.
