LT snow sweeper No. 036 in colour - a photo on Flickriver

            My *coloured/tinted version of an old B&W photograph of London Transport (LT) snow sweeper car No. 036. It looks as though it is in storage with other seasonal works cars, probably at Penhall Road, Charlton.

Snow sweeper car No. 036 was originally London County Council Tramways (LCC) tram No. 132, a 4 wheel open top double deck type B  tram built in 1903 by the Electric Railway & Tramway Carriage Works and running on a Brill 21E truck. It went into storage in 1924 before being converted to a single deck snow sweeper in 1927 being based out of New Cross Depot, in 1933 ownership passed to the London Passenger Transport Board (LPTB).

It was withdrawn from service in Jun 1952 and was disposed of (broken up or sold) at the LT Penhall Road Works, the parts of the London tramways system that had not already been withdrawn or transferred to trolleybus/bus operation closing the next month.

* My coloured images are more sketch or watercolour like than colour transparency or print like. They are an impression of that subject and period, rather than an accurate representation of how the image/subject actually looked when the photo was taken.
