“That Smell of Freshly Dug Earth”

There are particular smells of nature that are unforgettable in my mind. These smells always remind me of growing up around the countryside. Each time I smell them it rejuvenates my mind momentarily, not sure if you can relate or if this makes sense to you? It’s hard to explain but I’ll give it a whirl sure….

Summer’s mowed lawns, Autumn’s cold morning dew, Winter’s smell of turf fires burning. However my all-time favourite has to be the smell of fresh dug soil during the start of Spring, especially if it has just been ploughed into furrows after a really warm day. Just like this field in my photo, which I stood in & captured yesterday evening.

I prefer these smells over any fancy expensive high street scents any day. If I could buy aftershave in these available smells I would! Can you imagine someone asking me “What’s that distinct aftershave smell your wearing?” my answer being ‘Freshly Dug Earth’ by ‘Wray Fragrance’s’ Ok maybe I should just stick to photography & give up on my Perfume making vision for the meantime 👍😂
