Hammering through Hammerwich ((84/03/31)

            37149 was working hard as it neared Hammerwich on the Lichfield - Walsall line. The train was a loaded oil working from Lindsey to Albion (near Sandwell & Dudley). This through route closed 19/03/1984 just 10 days after this picture was taken.
37149 was built by English Electric at the the Vulcan Foundry, it entered service new to Cardiff Canton as D6849 21/06/1963. It became 37149 in August 1974 and upon rebuilding as a 37/7 it was renumbered as 37892. The loco was withdrawn 01/01/2000 and scrapped at EMR (Kingsbury) 01/01/2008.
