Cuteness in the Carnage - a photo on Flickriver

            Tiny Lion (Panthera leo) cub, looking a bit out of place amidst the remains of a Waterbuck kill achieved by its mother and her fellow females. The kill scene was quite gruesome, but of course it displays the circle of life in stark focus. Add four young cubs to the mix, and the contrast gets dialed up considerably. While the adults dismembered and fed on the carcass, the cubs frantically chased each other, nursed on their moms and showed how hard it is to eat meat off the bone with tiny teeth and small jaw muscles.
