Chattahoochee River Cascades [Explore - 08/04/24]

Early in the week I decided that Saturday evening would be spent searching out Gemstone Falls deep in the Mark Trail Wilderness in North Georgia. Departing for the adventure at midday put me on the Low Gap Creek trail in the late afternoon, and from there required a rugged river walk on the Chattahoochee River to ultimately reach my destination. This was definitely one of the more challenging hikes of the year, and I was relieved to complete it both in one piece and before nightfall arrived. This particular shot was captured alongside the river, and I would ultimately hike into the river foreground that you see here. It was certainly slippery, and I did take a fall or two but made for such a fun time!
