G-BAEF Dan Air Boeing 727-46 seen on push-back at London Gatwick

From a collection of some 500 Boeing slides that I've had scanned from my archives. Hope they will provide some enjoyment and nostalgia from a bygone age.

A classic view of Gatwick in the early 1980s One of the small fleet of short bodied 727s that Dan Air used in the 1970s and 1980s, G-BAEF is seen here on push-back at London Gatwick in the interim livery with extra black cheatline but without the extra black lining on the tail. Lurking in shot at stage-right is one of my favourite Gatwick visitors - the weekly Interflug Tupolev Tu-134A, on this occasion DDR-SCU. G-BAEF was with Dan Air for an impressive 20 year stint, but was leased out periodically over that time. I wonder why the reverse thrusters are being deployed? According to my log book, the aircraft was operating flight DA2110.

G-BAEF c/n 18879 - Boeing 727-46 was delivered new to JAL as JA8312 in Apr 1966. Sold to Dan Air in Sep 1972, the aircraft flew with the airline for 20 years before being sold to Aerorepublica as HK-3840X. Whilst with Dan Air, the aircraft was leased out on occasion to Nepal Airlines as 9N-ABV, ACES Columbia as HK-3384X, and Avianca as HK-3599X. The aircraft was withdrawn at Bogota around 2001, and stripped for parts.
