G-BHNF Boeing 727-2J4 on final approach to runway 26 at London Gatwick

From a collection of some 500 Boeing slides that I've had scanned from my archives. Hope they will provide some enjoyment and nostalgia from a bygone age.

Seen here on final approach to runway 26 at London Gatwick is G-BHNF, one of the stretched 727s that Dan Air starting acquiring or leasing in the 1980s. This one was delivered new to Sterling Airways in 1977, and was leased to Dan Air for a few years in the 1980s. It was harder to get decent shots at Gatwick in the afternoon, at least from the viewing terrace, as it was into the sun - at least when the sun was shining! According to my log book, the aircraft was operating flight DA1219.

G-BHNF c/n 21438 - Boeing 727-2J4 was delivered new to Sterling Airways as OY-SBC in Oct 1977. The aircraft was leased out to Dan Air as G-BHNF between 1980-1984, and 1986-1989. After a short lease with Australian Airlines in 1990, the aircraft returned to the USA as N284SC with Northern Lakes Fincance Corp., California. The aircraft was leased to Sun Country Airlines, and was finally retired in 2002, and stored at Miami - Opa Locka, fate unknown.
