Sinónimo: Cupressus sempervirens var. atlantica Silba.
Árbol de tamaño mediano hasta 35 m de altura y 4 m de circunferencia. Forma cónica con tronco recto; no se han reportado formas fastigiadas. Corteza pardo grisácea, fisurada longitudinalmente, sin decorticación. Ramas colocadas en grandes ángulos, curvándose hacia arriba. Ramitas de 1º y 2º orden distichous. Los brotes de primer orden son de sección ligeramente aplanados, muy finos (diámetro 0,5 mm). Escamas cupressoidales del follaje, opuestas, decusadas, imbricadas, adpresas, acuminadas, fuertemente aquilladas, de 1 mm de largo, con glándula de resina activa y conspicua. Aspecto general del follaje de grano fino, ligeramente glauco, especialmente en árboles jóvenes. Las plántulas tienen dos cotiledones apiculados y hojas apiculadas glaucas. S Marruecos: endémica de las montañas del Alto Atlas del sur de Marruecos (11 ° W, 31 ° N), donde hay varios rodales y varios árboles aislados distribuidos en un área total de unos 200 km2. S Morocco: Endemic to the High Atlas Mountains of Southern Morocco (11°W, 31° N) where there are several stands and a number of isolated trees distributed over a total area of about 200 km2.
