Wind Pipes - a photo on Flickriver

Wind Pipes

            The most giant windmills at sea are assembled here,
in Rotterdam harbor. Several pieces (with a diameter wide enough to accommodate trucks) are welded together to create a huge mast.

At the bottom (see the door for inside traffic) the mast is based on a 'connector' for a solid fit with an underwater construction.

On top of the mast, a transmission will be mounted: the connecting piece for three enormous wings.

The group at this picture reminds me of an organ, also using wind to make music.
