            In the week before Christmas it was very cold with regular snowfall. On Christmas Day there was 5 to 20 cm of snow in a large part of the country, locally 30 cm in South Limburg. In the eastern part of the country the days before Christmas were also snow dunes due to the strong wind. Only in the Kop van Noord-Holland, on the Wadden and in Friesland there was hardly any snow in most places. On Christmas Day, the temperature in the western half of the country was above freezing, affecting the snow cover there. However, there were also some winter showers, especially in the evening and the night to Boxing Day. Winter rain continued to fall on Boxing Day. In almost the entire country, however, the temperature rose above zero, causing some melting. De Bilt: 5 cm of snow on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
