Brohltalbahn - Vulkanexpress in Niederzissen Deutschland 17. April 2016

The Vulkanexpress from Brohl to Engeln in Niederzissen Germany.
The Brohltalbahn is a german narrow gauge 1000 mm railway line leading from Brohl on the river Rhine (70 m above sea level) to Engeln (465 m above sea level). The maximum gradient of the line is 1:20 (5%). Diesel engines are the usual traction of the trains. On special days a historic steam engine is on duty.

Interesting for Swiss people is the second coach of the Vulkan Express, a former first and second class coach ex AB 205 of the BOB (Bernese Oberland railway). It has been beautifully restored by the Brohltalbahn in Germany and is now a part of the Vulkan Express ( = Volcano Express).

Der Vulkanexpress von Brohl nach Engeln bei seinem Zwischenhalt in Niederzissen. Interessant für Schweizer ist der an zweiter Stelle eingereihte Personenwagen AB 38. Es handelt sich um den ehemaligen AB 205 der Berner Oberland Bahnen, der mustergültig erneuert wurde.
Die Brohltalbahn, eine Schmalspurbahn mit Meterspur, betreibt neben Güterverkehr auch durch einen ausgegliederten Verein den "Vulkanexpress" als Zug mit Personenbeförderung. Als Museumsbahn verkehrt der sehr langsame "Express" an mehreren Fahrtagen in der Woche von Brohl nach Engeln. Speziell an der Bahn ist eine längere Steilstrecke mit 50 Promille Neigung. Zu speziellen Anlässen werden auch Dampfloks eingesetzt.
