Mating Crane Flies

            Sixth image in my insect series...

In my search for insects on our property to photograph, I discovered these two mating Crane flies in our Sumac bush.

Sometimes misidentified as huge mosquitos, these Crane flies are similar in body shape, but they do not bite humans nor eat blood for their food source. Plus they are much bigger in size than mosquitos.

I feel incredibly fortunate to have found these two insects and to be able to get a clear and clean capture of them!
