Peewee walks the line - a photo on Flickriver

            A male Magpie-lark, or Peewee (Grallina cyanoleuca), walks the boundary fence and waits for food.  They're very cautious birds, keep their distance but give no quarter to most other birds.  I've tried to gain their trust, but they will have none of it; I handle the rejection, feed them and imagine they will relent (fat chance).  These descendants of the dinosaurs have brutal winning ways.
