Window in the Clouds - a photo on Flickriver

After a few days of extreme heat in the Bay Area two straight days of LFE (Low Fog Event) graced the Golden Gate Bridge. With long summer days the wakeup time was extremely early when accounting for drive time for an arrival prior to peak blue hour. The better of the two days, the fog on the first day was nearly perfect with the height sitting just above deck-level. The fog constantly covered and exposed the bridge deck lights making glow pockets all around the bridge.

With significant fog rolling into the bay Aaron and I decided to shoot at a turnout below Hawk Hill where part of the lower valley of the Marin Headlands was visible. Coupled with smoky skies from the Big Sur Soberanes fire sunrise twilight had some beautiful colors from the deep blue fog to the glowing pastel pink skies. For such a long drought of seeing high clouds it was a pleasure for the return of low fog.
