Parc du Grand Blottereau ( In Explore 2021-11-18 )

Le parc du Grand-Blottereau est un parc de Nantes, situé dans le quartier Doulon-Bottière, à l'est de la commune. Dans ce parc, le plus vaste de Nantes avec ses 22 hectares, ce qui en fait le plus grand parc de la ville, le dépaysement est assuré ! Parc à vocation exotique depuis le legs à la ville par Thomas II Dobrée en 1905, le Grand Blottereau poursuit et amplifie ce côté exotique depuis 40 ans maintenant. Véritable lieu d’expérimentation, en évolution permanente, le parc offre un parcours à travers les paysages naturels et champs cultivés du monde : la Méditerranée, l’Amérique des bayous, les collines de Corée du sud et demain peut-être les 5 continents. Siège de la section d’agronomie coloniale de l’école de commerce au début du XXe siècle, le parc a hérité des serres tropicales. Elles abritent des plantes exotiques centenaires et une collection unique de plantes utilitaires : plantes vivrières, aromatiques, médicinales ou utilisées dans le textile. Une fois par an, au mois de septembre, le parc s’ouvre à l’exposition-vente « Une Folie des Plantes » qui porte bien son nom avec plus de 40 000 visiteurs et 160 exposants. Entre 1742 et 1747, l'armateur Gabriel Michel, directeur de la Compagnie des Indes fait construire un château, dont l'auteur des plans nous est inconnu, mais furent très probablement attribués à tort à l'architecte parisien Jean-Baptiste Ceineray, qui était néanmoins trop jeune pour conduire un tel projet puisqu'il n'était âgé de seulement à peine 20 ans au début des travaux. Les noms de Jacques V Gabriel et de Germain Boffrand sont également évoqués.
