The "Franken-Mauser" Sporterized Mauser 98K/S&L M69 in 6.5x55 mm Swedish

            LR/hunting rig based on a wartime Mauser 98K, converted by Shultz & Larsen to a M69 target rifle in 6.5x55 mm Swedish, with a S&L match trigger and side safety, sometime during the 70s, later (date unknown) unsuccesfully converted to a long range rig (barrel threaded, Nielsen Sonic 45 suppressor added and picatinny rail installed), but the previous owner had trouble getting it to group due to a warped and bent wooden handle (I got it in a very favourable trade) – recently finished by me with a Hogue overmolded pillar bedded stock and a Vortex Optics Diamondback Tactical 4-12x40 in Hawke Optics match rings.

Optics mounted as low as the current shape of the bolt handle allows, I'll probably get around to modify the bolt hande some day. The bolt handle does scratch the side of the optics if not careful, not a big deal though, it's a workhorse not a showpiece.
I will probably also Gun-Kote or Cerakote the bottom metal – and maybe even barrel and action – at some point. Atm. I will shoot it as is though – it is meant to be a budget build, though staying true to that principle is always a challenge for me.

Without the suppressor it now shoots sub MOA, with suppressor (the Sonic 45 is fairly heavy) the groups string and open up slightly, still well under 2MOA. Fairly good for a rifle previously destinied to the scrap heap.
