Sea Air Land Logistics' Freightliner COE Semi Tractor

            Taken at the ATHS' Ohio Vintage Truck Jamboree held a the Ashland County Fairgrounds in Ashland, Ohio.  

I probably shouldn't do it, but I'm going out on a limb and guess that this rig started life with only one drive axle and was later extended to accommodate the two drive axles you see now.  I'm basing my guess on the fact that it is a day cab and was probably built at the time that the maximum length of a semi tractor plus trailer was measured as a combination of the two.  Currently only the length of the trailer is limited to 53 feet with no limit on the tractor's length.  
The shorter COE day cab tractor was in favor as it could pull a longer trailer (bigger payload) than a conventional tractor or one with a sleeper cab and dual power axles could.   COE's have been phased out since the new regulations took effect.
