Elvis Presley's home in Memphis, Tennessee.

Elvis' first airplane, much smaller than the subsequent Lisa Marie, on display across Elvis Presley Boulevard from Graceland.

When he purchased the house and 13.8 acres in the 1950s the property was just beyond the outskirts of the city, closer to the Mississippi state line than to downtown. With it's low (8 foot) ceilings and closed off floorplan the house seems more like a period dwelling than like a mansion. On the other hand most homes of that time were small by today's standards and had a single bathroom and a one car garage, if any.
