Water Front - a photo on Flickriver

Water Front

            My main focus of this shot was the water front or a small part of it with the inland ships and the sky. The bigger one at 61 metres (200 ft) is the paddle wheeler SS Sicamous a Canadian Pacific Railway steam ship and the smaller is the Canadian National Railway Tug MV Number 6 and it's powered by a diesel engine. Third ship, Canadian Pacific Railway's SS Naramata is not visible as its between the Sicamous and the Number 6. The CNR MV No. 6 is the only one floating as the other two are beached. These three ships form the SS Sicamous Heritage Park and museum. The big building in the background is the South Okanagan Event Centre about half a kilometre away. The taller one further back 4 kilometre is the local hospital. Penticton is between two large lakes, Okanagan and Skaha which are 6 kilometres apart and mountains on the other two sides. With sandy breaches on both lakes, wineries galore, orchards, casino, ski hill, Penticton is a resort town who's population doubles from 34 thousand in the tourist season.
