Meet The Real Marie Lloyd - a photo on Flickriver

            Another in my Famous Strangers project of people who are not the famous person but share the name. 

Marie is a textile artist and displays her work as I do in the towns artist cooperative Made In Bradford, in fact we often share a shift together when we work in the shop.

For the benefit of anybody who doesn’t know the other Marie Lloyd, the imposter was a famous music hall singer and comedian around 1910/20s she was famous for the song My Old Man (Said Follow The Van) 

When I was photographing people for the 100 Strangers project I found some of my models had famous names: Richard Burton, Paul Newman etc and I remembered one of my lecturers at Uni introduced himself as The Real Richard Burton because the other is an imposter, Richard Burton the actor’s real name was Jenkins.
