Foot in the clouds – Yoga at Ariel

Back in Bermuda I visited Cox's Bay on the south shore with its amazing massive seawater pools carved out of the rocks. They are below the high tide and so are refilled twice a day and are brilliantly fresh. This is the smaller of the two.

Cox's Bay was the site of the defunct Ariel Sands resort which has been completely demolished and removed so it has now returned to being an unusually natural-looking part of the coast, apart from these pools (which I think are from a previous development) and an unexpected bronze statue in the sea, of a naked bather – the only legal one in Bermuda!

This summer the Bay was temporarily occupied by the Hub Culture Innovation Campus and as a member I was able to spend some time there enjoying the beautiful place. I was taking some photos of the sea-pools and asked Tamara, the lone swimmer emerging from the water if she minded being in a photo to give it scale – she said she was happy to be, and to my surprise proceeded to perform some pretty dramatic yoga positions on the edge, producing a much more interesting picture than I had imagined...

When I sent her a copy of this photo, and another one I took a few minutes later, she replied that she wished she had asked me to take some more – maybe a future project...
