Don by Valentine 1962 / Ken clone doll

            This is a photo of Don made by Valentine Doll Co in 1962. This doll has appeared numerous times on eBay on rare occasions in doll auctions ether dressed in a Ben Casey doctor outfit with black hair or nude with brown hair like this one. This doll that’s in the photo is wearing his original swimsuit outfit which tells me he was sold as a fashion doll that Valentine made with his own name but it’s unknown of what his name was. The only thing I know that this doll was sold in a Ben Casey doll box with black hair with a Ben Casey doctor outfit that looks nothing like the actor himself. This is the first time I see this doll with a Ken inspired swimsuit outfit that’s original to this doll this same swimsuit outfit was used for Valentines Don Doll who was the boyfriend to Polly. If you notice the head mold of this Ken clone is made from the first flocked hair Ken doll heads but it was altered by the company to give him a molded hair appearance. 

This doll appears in the 1962 Spiegel catalogs with girlfriend Polly.
