The Johann Strauss / Father and Joseph Lanner monument

            In the spa gardens of Baden, a Johann Strauss / Vater and Joseph Lanner memorial commemorates the fact that many a melody owes its inspiration to the city of Baden.
In 1880, Johann Strauss Sohn acquired a country house with a park in Schönau an der Triesting, eight kilometers from Baden, where he spent several summers. In Schönau Strauss wrote the two operettas "A Night in Venice" and "The Gypsy Baron".
