Northern Waterthrush - a photo on Flickriver

            A Northern Waterthrush, a rare bird for Vancouver and a lifer for me!  There are a handful spotted every year around this time, but I've never been successful in finding one -- until today! Thanks to a few other birders who spotted it, I was able to take many blurry, obscured or otherwise terrible photographs of it.  But in the midst of all those, I found this one!

It was a challenge to get, as this bird doesn't care to stay still for more than a few seconds.  On top of that, the air is thick with smoke from the terrible fires burning in Washington and Oregon, meaning even less light to work with.
