Jimmy (W4VRX) Fitzpatrick, B-17 Pilot

Jimmy spoke for more than an hour about his experiences with the 36 missions he flew over Germany. He also flew to Russia and worked with their flight crews, which he left with a healthy respect for.
Jimmy rubbed elbows with some famous folks while he was a pilot in WWII. He was acquainted with Joe Kennedy, Jr, who met his early demise in a B-24 in Operation Aphrodite. The plane was loaded nose to tail with TNT that was intended to be a remotely controlled bomb that needed him to get it in the air before parachuting out over England. Sadly something went wrong and it prematurely went off.
Jimmy also told a great story about an officer, a P-51 Mustang and the nurse that rode in the officer's lap to his base. When ignoring orders not to leave with the nurse upon his return to his own base, the officer was arrested and held until his Commanding Officer Jimmy Stewart (yes, the actor also veteran) came to retrieve him.
