Sparkling Sand Pyramid (8x10 version)

            Grains of sand sparkle in the afternoon sun in remote sand dunes in Death Valley National Park. These sands are lighter in color than the popular accessible Mesquite Dunes and have an all together different vibe. I was struck by the sharp lines of this pyramid of sand and the intricate small ripples upon its surface. Revisiting this photo recently it occurred to me that there was an imperfection in the sand that annoyed  me quite a lot. I don't like to clone out such things in Photoshop. I know we live in an imperfect world, and if my photos are imperfect with some slight imperfection or rough edges then so be it. There are plenty of other photographers to choose from who curate their pixels far more aggressively. But, I am not against the simplest of solutions which is to crop the tiny bit out. And in this case, the result I dare say to me is perfection. How funny to look back and it didn't occur to me the first time I posted this image to simply go for the 8x10 ratio and crop out the tiny defect on the right side of frame in the sand. Or perhaps at the time I embraced that flaw. At any rate I am happy to capture nature in her aesthetically perfect or imperfect forms as the beauty does not require perfection.
