Port Elizabeth Eastern Cape South Africa 27th May 1982

            A rescan & reworking of a shot  at Sydenham shed Port Elizabeth that I first posted in 2006.

When I arrived at 07.30 with my shed permit from South African Railways it was all go with engines being prepped, watered & cleaned around this massive 10 road straight shed.

Here SAR/SAS North British Class 24 2-8-4 3685, cylinder drain cocks blowing, moves off shed after coaling up. On the left Class 15AR 4-8-2 2014 is taking water and on the right the cleaners are working on 19D 4-8-2 2657. There were a total of 69 steam locos on shed this morning.

Built in 1949-50 in Glasgow according to Wiki 21 Class 24s have been preserved but sadly 3685 is not one of them & was scrapped.
