Mom's Work Is Never Done 4963 - a photo on Flickriver

            I only got one early morning at this Vermilion Flycatcher nest, so I'm just gonna drag it out as long as I can - here's one for Flycatcher Friday. I've already confessed and made my excuses for the difficulties posed - back light on a cloudy morning, tons of obstruction - heck, I couldn't even find the nest with my naked eye even though it wasn't terribly far away and it was reasonably low on the tree branch. All things considered, I have to share what is happening here. Mama Vermilion has just flown in with a bug for one of her 3 lucky chicks. Before flying off, she picks up a fecal sac - that's birdie poop all wrapped up in a tidy ball for the parents to remove from the nest - yup, nature's way of keeping the nest inside tidy and clean.
