🌙 Our preferences and passions keep changing throughout the years. The same thing has happened with my photography. I used to use yellowish colors in my pictures, now I hate that tint and try to avoid it. I used to like dark and whimsical pictures with illogical things in them, now it seems ridiculous.⠀

🌙 A good picture means a good message for me. Sometimes people ask me to show them my favourite pictures of other photographers and it takes a lot of time to find some of them. Not that I think that my pictures are the best in the world. The reason is different. A good pictures should have so many things in it so that I like it. Light, camera, composition, models are not the main constituents here. The message is the most important. A good picture should have a message, a statement it wants to convey. A really good picture doesn't lose its significance within a time. Since most pictures are instant and superficial in their message, people keep forgetting them the minute after, even though they liked it. We are overwhelmed with photography nowadays, it might seem that it is losing its power a bit, becomes insignificant. But the situation is completely opposite.⠀

🌙 The more insignificant things people produce, the more valuable become the real works of art. Think of finding a good picture as a hunting for a pearl - a unique and important mission. The best photographer for me has always been and is Sally Mann. Using an old large-format camera she created timeless black and white pictures full of symbolism and beauty. She had different projects: showed her children's childhood at the rancho with pictures; photographed the south of the USA, showing the beauty and decay of its nature; shot the progression of her husband's disease and his struggles and, finally, took the pictures of decomposing dead bodies to show what remains of us when we pass away. Sally Mann is a pure inspiration and today's picture was inspires by her.
