Fire in the Sky

Stitched together three shots taken from the back of St Mary's Lighthouse looking North towards the lights of Blyth.

The light pollution from Blyth was a challenge and I had to tone down the yellow/oranges from the street lights on the left of the image but even so the Aurora was strong enough to shine through.

Looking at most of the shots I took on the night the lights shining on the lighthouse left it overexposed, so although it gives you a visual location reference I have left it out of this image. I heard after midnight they turned it off but I had given up by that point and had headed back home.

Made up for my last visit to this spot where the wind blew my tripod over and smashed £100 worth of filters, still could have been the lens!
