Sheep Crab, Loxorhynchus grandis, DOA

            As found on the beach,
Morro Strand State Beach,
Morro Bay, California

While most crabs molt regularly throughout their lives, sheep crabs cease to molt at sexual maturity. Hence the number of growths on the shell of this large crab.  Most notable on this one were the barnacles, but there were probably many other things much smaller.

Though I didn't measure, it was probably ~16" (40cm) across at widest from tip of leg to tip of leg.
