            'De redder van Peugeot', wordt de 205 wel genoemd. Toen het Franse merk begin jaren tachtig in financiële problemen kwam, werd besloten een concurrent voor de Golf en Kadett te ontwikkelen. Dat werd de 205, en daar werden tussen 1983 en 1998 5.3 miljoen exemplaren van gebouwd.

'The savior of Peugeot', the 205 is called. When the French brand ran into financial problems in the early 1980s, they decided to develop a competitor for the Golf and Kadett. That became the 205, and 5.3 million units were built between 1983 and 1998.
