            Al sinds de eerste geruchten dat er een speciaal evenement zou worden georganiseerd met een, sinds WO II, niet eerder vertoonde hoeveelheid DC-3/C-47 stond dit op ons verlanglijstje. Zo'n evenement zou waarschijnlijk een 'once in a lifetime' kans zijn om mee te maken. Zodra de geruchten vastere vorm begonnen te krijgen werden plannen gemaakt en de reis geboekt. Hoewel het weer soms echt verschrikkelijk slecht was (zware regen en stevige wind) was het een fantastisch evenement. Naast de vele historische vliegtuigen (Harvards, Spitfires, Tigermoths en Dragon Rapides) die in Duxford gestationeerd zijn, kwamen 23 DC-3/C-47 van over de hele wereld naar Duxford voor een herdenkingsvlucht naar Normandië. De derde juni werden wij (onverwachts) getrakteerd op een formatievlucht met 14 Dakota's. En de laatste dag stond in het teken van de herdenkingsvlucht waar bijna alle DC-3/C-47's aan meededen. Een evenement dat voor altijd in ons geheugen gegrift zal staan.

Ever since we heard the first rumors that a special event would be organized with an amount of DC-3 / C-47 that had not been shown before since World War II, this was on our wish list. Such an event would probably be a 'once in a lifetime' opportunity to experience. As soon as the rumors started to take shape, plans were made and the trip booked. Although the weather was sometimes terribly bad (heavy rain and strong wind) it was a fantastic event. In addition to the many historic aircraft (Harvards, Spitfires, Tigermoths and Dragon Rapides) stationed in Duxford, 23 DC-3 / C-47 from all over the world came to Duxford for a commemorative flight to Normandy. The third of June we were (unexpectedly) treated to a formation flight with 14 Dakotas. And the last day was dominated by the memorial flight in which almost all DC-3 / C-47s participated. An event that will forever be engraved in our memory.
