Limebourne M 73 at the Wimbledon terminus of route 156

Limebourne Travel had former Metroline MCW Metrobus M 73 in its predominantly single-deck fleet in order for schoolday workings on routes 156 and 344 with the vehicle seen here at the southern terminus of route 156 at the bus station in Sir Cyril Black Way in Wimbledon one warm morning in July 1999. Ironically route 156 was previously worked by double-deckers in the form of DMSs when the route was created to replace the former southern end of route 77A in 1984, although the 156 was converted to London General's 'Streetline' midibus operation as a result of the revised Wandsworth Area Route Network (WARN) which took place in March 1991 with the route only connecting Wimbledon with Clapham Junction via Southfields and Wandsworth. Since 2002 route 156 now continues to Vauxhall bus station via Battersea and Nine Elms Lane.
