Wild Tawny Owl - no crop required! 850_8182.jpg

            You will be seeing a lot more of this wild Tawny Owl but I have to explain why. The number one bird I wanted to see on my trip to Scotland was a Sparrowhawk. I have never seen one let alone photographed one. I had been told one showed itself fairly regulary at the hide so decided to take the chance and book the trip. It is proving to be my nemisis bird. It turns out that this Wild Tawny Owl has moved into the Sparrowhawk territory very recently and after a reported spat it seems the Tawny Owl is now the boss. Despite waiting around for many hours for the Sparrowhawk it never showed for me. On the plus side the Owl hunts during morning daylight hours and has learnt to collect the mouse put out for the Sparrowhawk. So - you lose some and you win some! Hopefully I will see a Sparrowhawk one day!
