            Kentucky Wildcats - Old School / New School - Vintage and Newer Logos

The vintage Old School items were all gifts, received 'real time' (none are 'retro' items).  The oldest is the We're No. 1 pinback button, given to me in February 1966,  I was 6 years old.  Kentucky was indeed ranked #1 at that time, and lost to Texas Western in that famous NCAA championship game.  The wool blanket in the background has the Wildcat logo from the seventies.  The Kentucky Wildcat framed print is from the late seventies, by Charles Spaulding, it is signed and numbered in pencil.   The keychain on the stuffed Wildcat's left index finger and bottle/can opener in its right paw have the same Cat logo and are from the eighties.  The pennant is from the early nineties, before the Cat's tongue was changed.  

I have lots of  New School items, but chose these four:  The stuffed Wildcat was perfect for holding the old keychain and opener, and is also giving the #1 sign with its left paw (consistent with the old #1 pinback button).  The mug made a good pedestal for the old button. The cap just seemed like it belonged on the corner of the framed print. The orange basketball (actually a keychain fob) was chosen for its color and it nicely hides a big "PRESS HERE" label on the mascots left foot (and when pressed, plays the WRONG school fight song lol).
