Fungus on Dow Creek - a photo on Flickriver

            While it is dry season on the Olympic Peninsula this rotting log is overhanging tiny Dow Creek. Generally wood borne fungus are able to weather dry periods reasonably well. In this case the climate of the Olympic Peninsula along with the creekside micro climate explains the robustness of this specimen.. I suspect this is Ganoderma applanatum.
