While these magnificant vessels are not products of the Northwest School of Wooden Boatbuilding, this beautiful picture is emblematic of the range of activities one can pursue within easy range of the School during off time. Here, the beautiful wooden boats PACIFICA (left) and SPARKLE compete in the fourth race of the Spring Whitecap Series hosted by the Port Townsend Sailing Association. ptsail.org/ The boats are running across the relatively calm waters of Port Townsend Bay, beyond which can be seen Whidbey Island and the foothills of the Cascades Mountains, heading south towards the weather mark off Marrowstone Island. Students at the School interested in sailing will receive a friendly and supportive reception from PTSA members.
