Campsite, Montana

                       Cascade County.  The former Campsite post office building, seen in 2021, along the Logging Creek Road in the Little Belt Mountains.  Campsite was along the Great Northern branch line that once ran from Armington to Neihart.  It took its name from its location along Belt Creek as it served as an early-day camping ground for fishermen.  A post office opened at Campsite in 1922 (May 11) with George Poetter as postmaster.  The post office lasted until 1937 (September 28).  An earlier post office in the same area was known as Logging Creek.  The Logging Creek post office operated from 1893 (August 17) to 1899 (March 11).
