23 May 2021 — Wheeler, Kansas — Lightning Display

            May 23rd—Wheeler, KS—shortly after side-stepping a surging, spiraling mesovortex near St. Francis. The ensuing whale's mouth gust front swept by and revealed a flurry of intracloud lightning hopping around inside. I love running across those old-timey grain elevators, especially if the sky is in a mood. The rain and hail were sweeping in and I couldn't hang out there too long, but it was enough.
