Kirkjufell & Kirkjufellsfoss - a photo on Flickriver

            Of all the iconic locations Iceland has to offer this is probably one you’ll see time and time again. I’d seen many shots of this fantastic waterfall/mountain combination on photography sites prior to our visit and indeed a huge enlargement was featured in the arrivals lounge of the airport on the way in. 

On our anticlockwise tour of the island we didn’t encounter the location until late in our hols. As always time was against us, (was early evening when we arrived), so I only had an hour or so to whip the camera out and fill me boots. If I’d been on my own I could have spent all day/night here. 

Kirkjufell (Icelandic: Church mountain) is a 463 m high mountain on the north coast of Iceland's Snæfellsnes peninsula, near the town of Grundarfjörður. Kirkjufell was one of the filming locations for Game of Thrones season 6 and 7, featuring as the "arrowhead mountain" that the Hound and the company north of the Wall see when capturing an undead wight.

Within walking distance from Kirkjufell, is the photogenic waterfall Kirkjufellsfoss (“Church Mountain Falls”), so positioned that you can easily frame the mountain in the background. Despite its relatively diminutive height, Kirkjufellsfoss’ three-pronged falls make the waterfall particularly stunning, even for Iceland.

RAW shot with minimal post-processing in camera raw and photoshop. Shot with my trusty tripod using a Fuji X-T2 & 14mm f2.8 prime, aperture f9, exposure 4.5 seconds, ISO 400 using a 6 stop ND filter if I'm not mistaken.
