            On a whim I took time to look at my insect hotel which rarely does much because the woodpeckers swoop in to take the grubs.  Well this year they haven't and the hotel isn't taking any more bookings - it is full of solitary bees.  If ever there was any doubt about the importance of these bees to pollination have a look at this insect.
