Special:
- The new '38 model had headlights in the wings, an 'inbuilt luggage compartment with external access' and the running boards were gone.
- The "Eight" was the one of the smallest cars built in England and was a major competitor of the Ford Anglia, Standard and Hillman.
- The "alligator" bonnet was now rear hinged making engine access poor. 
- The four-cylinder side-valve engine (three shell-type bearing crankshaft, counterbalanced) is fed by one SU carburettor, has a four-speed manual gearbox with synchromesh on second, third and the top, rear wheel drive, hydraulic brakes and a 25 Liter fuel tank.
- It has a Lucas electrical system powered by a 6 volt battery, coil ignition and a so called two brush dynamo (automatic regulation).
- It has a "waterfall" dummy grille; the actual radiator was hidden behind it.
- Post-war general production restarted in 1945.
- Post-war Convertibles were only produced in Australia on imported chassis/mechanicals.
- A steel sliding roof was an option.
