Byrd Creek Dam - Cumberland Mountain State Park - Cumberland County, Tennessee

            Cumberland Mountain State Park was acquired in 1938 and is a 1,720 acre park found in Cumberland County, Tennessee.  The park is located around Byrd Lake, a 50 acre man-made lake created by the impoundment of Byrd Creek in the 1930s by Byrd Creek Dam seen here.  This dam (with a bridge across the top) is the largest masonry structure ever built by the Civilian Conservation Corps.  It was completed in 1938 and is faced with local Crab Orchard sandstone taken just a few miles from the park.

Three bracketed photos were taken with a handheld Nikon D7200 and combined with Photomatix Pro to create this HDR image.  Additional adjustments were made in Photoshop CS6.
